Look Out! (They’re Behind You)
I admit it!
I did it this week.
And I’m still squirming.
“Did what?” you ask.
Well, on Monday I sent THAT email.
And today – Friday – I now admit to feeling guilty.
Guilty of misjudging people.
What’s worse is…
these “people” are our Soul Millionaire ‘Tribe’
Our extraordinary, heart-centred, soul-rich clients!
You see…
Instead of sending cakes and balloons and hats to each Tribe Member
And asking them to bring all that to our Virtual (December) Tribe Celebration…
We decided to break with our own tradition.
We directed all that money… to a charity.
A charity selected by one of our ‘Tribe’.
A charity providing prisoners with the kind of mentoring and support…
That measurably, impressively, reduces their rate of re-offending.
And helps them feel confident, valuable & valued as a member of their community.
(Having spent time in a police cell as an 11-year-old…
Having experienced homelessness in my 20’s…
This touched a still-tender spot with me.)
On Monday… I sent that email, wondering how Tribe Members would receive this change.
Starting Tuesday… their support and encouragement flowed in. Overwhelming us!
How could I have possibly doubted their Spirit of Generosity; their Compassion?
Mea Culpa!
Then, yesterday, Thursday… their spirit was echoed in a delightful conversation with Hayley Rabbets of the not-for-profit Verve Foundation. What extraordinary work they’re fulfilling!
In this world (yes, including this industry) where selfishness and greed still show their ugly face.
Where media headlines can reinforce that picture…”
It’s such a joy to be surrounded by People who I can only describe as “Deeply Beautiful”.
My encouragement?
Look for them.
Point them out.
Proclaim them widely.
And then consciously surround yourself with them.
They really are all around you.
If you look for them.
They’re sitting right beside you.
Bumping into you.
Looking right at you.
Serving you.
Grinning at you.
DM’ing you.
WhatsApping you.
Staring you in the face.
Yes, they’re even behind you!
