The Impact You’ll Have… With This Business Skill!

I admit it.
I was fretting yesterday.
About business strategies and stuff.

You know…

Stressed about the dozen things I haven’t completed yet.
Annoyed about the too-many things that haven’t quite had the impact I’d hoped.

Fretting.
Until this morning.

I came back from a rejuvenating swim…
Turned to Channel 4 to catch up with the Paralympics.

And saw…
And saw…

A badminton player with a prosthetic blade leg!
A true superhero.

A superhero, who taught me how pitifully little of what we fret about…
really matters.
Really, really matters.

Or, as John Maxwell crisply put it:
“You cannot overestimate the unimportance of practically everything!”

This is a critical strength in business!

The strength to stand against the unimportant.
(So that you can make a huge impact by focusing on the important.)

And the wisdom to know the difference.

Those who have strength to subdue the voices shouting for their attention…
Those who choose not to knee-jerk-react to the pressing and proximate…

Those who are crystal clear about the direction they’re heading – and why…
Those who refuse to be dismayed by other’s criticisms

Those who think so long term… they’re seldom distracted by the latest bright, shiny thing…
Those who drive for eco-centric (rather than ego-centric) outcomes…

It is these who have the capacity to reach the extraordinary.
It is these whose lives are rich with energising, ennobling, elevating relationships.

It is these who– perhaps when they’ve run their race – others will talk about and think about.
And try to emulate.

So, whilst detail might be important in accomplishing each task…

It’s far more important that you exercise the wisdom to…
Stand back
And ask yourself…

“Even if I do this thing, this task, absolutely perfectly…
Is it really THAT important?

To those I serve.
To those I love.

As I look at that superhero badminton player with one blade leg…
Does this – what I’m fretting about right now – really, really matter?”

THAT, right there, is the defining business strength and skill!
