You’ll Never Believe the Week I’ve Just Had!
There are times when I wonder if I’ve meandered haplessly onto a film set.
And the episode has been written by someone with a slightly twisted sense of humour.
For example. There I was on a Monday night…
Minding my own business, paying for “Pump #3 please”
When I found myself slap-bang in the middle of a robbery!
Yep. Shelves being cleared, wholesale. Right there before my very eyes!
(I got my phone out to film what was happening. But was quickly persuaded not to).
And the evening I sat with my mouth wide open for a solid 20 minutes (“David, you’re dribbling”)…
Watching the incredulous scene, starring two of our world’s powerfully positioned, (bullying) politicians. Drunk with that power.
“Might Is Right” has seldom been so well played out before the camera!
Then the Tuesday evening spent pinned against a wall, dodging balls thrown by 10 over-excited (and strong) teenagers. (No, I wasn’t being bullied. This was my first lesson in ‘Dodgeball’ apparently.)
I was never so grateful for the hours dedicated to the gym and swimming pool, keeping myself reasonably fit. (It was the same day I rejoiced at finding a muscle where they tell me my bicep ought to be.)
Then The Wednesday… seated in a glorious 180 acres of East Sussex Countryside…
Surrounded, the live-long day, by clients – courageous, eager-to-learn leaders – whom one of our ‘Tribe’ described as…
“A group so welcoming, so generous, so gracious, uplifting, kind and non-judgemental.”
At the conclusion of which I was reminded that – in spite of all the abundant insanity – our world truly is filled with Goodness.
And what about the solid day of 1-2-1 coaching passionate business leaders?
People whom I can’t help loving. Even though I should remain objective.
Naturally, what was said remains confidential.
But walking with them while navigating the heart-stretching decisions of their lives…
That day’s experience filled my soul with gratitude for the privilege.
“Tired. But soul-soaring”…
is such a vivacious way to finish a working day.
Leaves you wanting to stand atop a hill and let out one of those primeval roars of delight!
No, I’ve not been to exotic locations this week. (The Australia Trip starts in April)
And yes, I did feel a tad jealous when one of my clients described the fun of a recent skiing holiday.
But there are days when what-looks-like-a-perfectly-ordinary-week-ahead can lead to a helter-skelter of experiences and much-needed lessons.
It left me wondering…
In our striving for the GOALS and OBJECTIVES of our Business Plans…
(which, yes, can be noble and uplifting when attained)…
Are we, too often, missing the mad mischievousness of moments and dainty doses of delight… in The JOURNEY of getting there?
Just a thought.
